Just B’s Porno Star: An Eclectic Mix of Great Rock ‘n’ Roll

Porno Star, part of a collection of great CDs produced by singer/songwriter Just B (Justin Burgess), is a highly listenable disc, packed full of tightly energetic rock ‘n’ roll. It is simply an excellent piece of recording and one that needs to be played….
Just B’s musical catalogue belies the fact that he is not some hoary old classic rocker intent on reliving the music of his youth. Instead, each tune is fresh and crisp and delivers a solid emotional punch, lyrically intense and exceptionally finely played. There are no weak spots and it is obvious that Just B is out to change the world through his music.
Porno Star ranges from great, straight-ahead rockers like Godzylla and the title track, Porno Star, to the cleverly whimsical Universe of Two, to the Zappaesque Sarah. There is tremendous diversity captured but all with the same standard of excellence.
It is almost impossible to listen to a Just B record without feeling that he has captured more than a bit of the essence of rock ‘n’ roll. And you can tell that has a lot to do with the passion he feels for the music……..it is something that is part of him……he is the musician’s musician and the music comes from his soul.
Too often in today’s musical world, the passion can be lacking, or there is passion but little ability. Just B combines the passion and the ability to produce wonderfully ecelectic music that always delivers a message for the masses. It is something I greatly admire the ability to make the art relevant and with substance.
Porno Star has it all great vocal work, tight, well-played instrumentation, cool audio effects and wonderful recording production….it’s a good piece of listening…..it can take you to the highest heights and deepest depths and do it in under forty minutes. An excellent piece of recording….
